Between the hotel’s main building and the Kasui-en annex, a peaceful tea room “Karaku-an” becomes a classroom where guests can learn about the Japanese tea ceremony from Soryu Tamon who is an honorary master of Urasenke, one of the main schools of Japanese tea ceremony, along with the philosophy, culture, and traditions behind the art of tea preparation.

The jewel in the crown at The Westin Miyako Kyoto is its Kasui-en annex. The hotel’s outstanding annex, hailed as a masterpiece of modernist Japanese architecture, was designed by celebrated architect Togo Murano in 1959.
